About the Area
Broadway is often referred to as the “Jewel in the Cotswolds” and is at the centre of the most sought after villages Hayman-Joyce Broadway represent.
Broadway lies at the foot of the North Cotswold Hills just below Fish Hill. Within five miles lie the picturesque villages of Willersey, Laverton, Stanton, Stanway, Childswickham, and Snowshill, located close to Broadway Tower, and not forgetting the hamlets of Buckland and Stanway. These peaceful villages are within easy reach of Broadway and are surrounded by exceptional scenery and a delightful variety of Cotswold stone houses from Manor Houses to pretty Cottages.
Broadway is the main visitor attraction with its wide High Street featuring many independent shops. Its growth was due to sheep farming and it became the home of wealthy wool merchants, then as a staging post for mail coaches and horses travelling from Worcester to London. In the 1860’s it became an important centre for the Arts and Crafts Movement. Today, Broadway and its villages are thriving communities, with a host of clubs and sporting facilities including football, cricket, golf, bowls and horse riding. Located on the famous ‘Cotswold Way’ it is a haven for walkers and nature lovers.

Welcome to Broadway
Stanton Village
Ask all the staff at Hayman-Joyce Broadway and they would vote Stanton as their outstanding most beautiful Cotswold Village. Just 2.5 miles from Broadway, Stanton is nestled at the foot of the Cotswold escarpment and is located on The Cotswold Way, so popular with walkers and horse riders. The famous Jill Carenza Horse Riding Centre is located on the edge of the village.
The village consists of the most delightful Cotswold stone cottages and houses, many of them thatched, and in the summertime the cottage gardens are a delight, and in Stanton roses adorn most walls. The village is a photographer’s dream. Stanton Court is a Jacobean Manor House and the Stott family who lived there were very much responsible for the development of the village.
Socially there is the Mount pub and restaurant that affords wonderful views over the village and the Vale of Evesham – a steep climb but most rewarding. Also adjacent to the pub is Stanton Guild House which offers residential breaks, training facilities, and tutored manual ‘art and craft’ programmes.
Stanton also has a very active Village Social Club which includes an indoor and outdoor bar, pool room, darts board and gallery. Some of the UK’s best Tribute Acts come to the Social Club.
For the fitter amongst us Stanton also boasts a lovely Cricket Ground and Club or bring a deck chair and enjoy the game.
Willersey Village
Willersey has many Hayman-Joyce Broadway residents which is in itself a recommendation for this traditional village just 1.8 miles from Broadway. Unlike its busy neighbour Willersey enjoys peace and quiet yet with an active community. The village echoes Broadway’s wide street, edged with Cotswold stone houses and cottages, with well-trimmed grass verges and a traditional village duck pond complete with small island and duck house for the resident mallards.
There is some new Cotswold stone housing in the village, but this old village has great character with Saint Peter’s church dating back to the 12th century. Willersey also boasts Taylor’s garage where you get served petrol – no self-service here! Two pubs both serving food, the Bell Inn and New Inn, a recreation ground and a Village Hall, the home of the Willersey Footlights.
Willersey has a Church of England Primary School as well as the home of the U3A (University of the Third Age). Willersey has Biker Nights, an Annual Scarecrow Trail as well as the annual Willersey Fete, Horticulture
and Craft Fair.
Willersey has a small Industrial Estate which is the home of Auto-Sleepers and Simon Hall removals, Storage and Worldwide shipping. Overall, a great Village to live in. Pictured: Willersey Village.
Childswickham
The attraction of Childswickham village is its proximity to Broadway just 1.5 miles away. The village is located on the edge of the Vale of Evesham. Property prices are lower than Broadway and the architecture a mixture of Cotswold stone, red brick and black and white cottages some thatched.
The village is dominated by the 15th century St. Mary the Virgin’s church steeple. The church also boasts an active group of campanologists and hosts an excellent annual flower festival.
A stream bisects the village and there is a delightful short walk from Farmers Lane through to Buckland Road.
Also, in the village with a reputation for good food is the Childswickham Inn and brasserie. Just past the Inn is the House of the open Door, an Ecumenical Christian Community and Retreat.
In the centre of the village is the Memorial Hall, once a barn, where many local activities take place including the annual village fete.
The village also hosts a cricket team. On the edge of the village is Leedon’s Residential Park, boasting an excellent club house and indoor swimming pool.
Overall a great place to live.
